At least 28 people died in a methane explosion ( gas grizu) in a coal mine in Iran today, state television reported, quoted by Reuters.

The accident happened in the eastern Iranian province of South Khorasan, which borders Afghanistan.

At the time of the explosion, 69 people were working in the mine. The initial data were for 19 dead and 17 injured miners.
