Ukrainian drones have hit the Bolkhov semiconductor plant in the Oryol region of Russia, which produces microchips and components for military equipment, Ukrinform reported. Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, announced this on Telegram, BTA reported.

He specified that the plant specializes in the production of microchips, semiconductors and control components used in T-72B3 and T-90M tanks, self-propelled howitzers, Iskander and Kh-101 missiles, electronic warfare systems such as Krasukha and "Zhitel", as well as tactical communications systems for army-level operations. Reuters adds that this plant also produces elements used in "Kinzhal" missiles.

Despite international sanctions, Kovalenko said, the Bolkhov plant continues to import Western technology through third countries and parallel import schemes, sourcing components from Taiwan, South Korea, Japan and even the United States.

On May 7, the Center for Combating Disinformation said that the optical systems plant in Saransk, Russia, was seriously damaged in a drone strike, Ukrinform recalls.
