Poland will start the process of selecting a partner for its planned second nuclear power plant in June. This was announced by the country's top representative on energy security issues, quoted by “Reuters“, BTA reports.

Deputy Minister of Industry Wojciech Wroczna, who earlier indicated January as the starting date for the procedure, specified that the selection would be made through dialogue with the market.

Poland, which is actively seeking to reduce its dependence on coal, has already selected the company “Westinghouse Electric“ to build its first nuclear power plant, located on the coast of the Baltic Sea. Although the financing of this project has not yet been finalized, the country is preparing to launch a second nuclear project.

“We want to have a capital partner, but we don't know if we will find one. We will check what the interest is and we hope to complete this process next year“, Wrocza said at a press conference.

He explained that the upcoming dialogue will not be limited to a specific model or contractor. Poland is looking for opportunities for cooperation in the fields of technology, construction, financing and future operation of the plant.

“We will talk to everyone - French, Americans, Canadians“, Wrocza added, emphasizing the open and transparent nature of the upcoming negotiations.
