Western colleagues have put an end to the Euro-Atlantic security model that has been under construction since the 1960s, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said, TASS reports.
"Our Western colleagues have put an end to the Euro-Atlantic security model that we have been building with them, based on the best intentions, since the 1960s. But our Western colleagues have literally trampled on the commitments made at the highest level both in the OSCE and within the Russia-NATO Council. Commitments not to strengthen one's own security at the expense of the security of others, not to allow military-political dominance in Europe by any state, group of states or organizations," Lavrov said at the plenary session of the International Socio-Political Hearings on the Problems of Forming a Unified, Equal System of Security and Cooperation in Greater Eurasia.
Lavrov noted that Euro-Atlantic security has been negatively affected by both the EU's alliance with NATO and the US's construction of military blocs in Southeast Asia, directed against China.
