The Ukrainian special services (SBU) are already preparing for new operations on Russian territory, similar to "Spiderweb". This was reported by "The Washington Post" columnist David Ignatius, referring to sources in the Ukrainian intelligence services.

According to him, the Security Service of Ukraine and the Main Intelligence Directorate have been actively working on implementing the motto of the Ukrainian special services since the beginning of the Russian invasion, namely: "I am following you.".

They are conducting operations to plan combat operations on Russian territory and beyond. Other sophisticated operations are already in the works, intelligence sources told the newspaper.

Citing his sources, the author also writes that SBU chief Vasyl Malyuk informed President Volodymyr Zelensky about the operation “Cobweb”, but not other senior officials in the presidential administration. According to them, Malyuk did not even tell one of his key deputies about it.

Ignatius notes that Operation “Cobweb” was a bold attempt by Kiev to “change the course of the negotiations”.

“With Trump’s withdrawal from the role of peacemaker, at least for now, Ukraine will be more dependent than ever on its intelligence services, which have demonstrated the ability to strike Russian forces deep inside their homeland and around the world. The front line in Ukraine will remain a hellish landscape of drones and artillery. But the covert operations could escalate into a “dirty war” beyond the front lines, with more targeted assassinations, sabotage and strikes against countries that supply weapons to Ukraine and Russia, respectively,”, he writes.

The columnist also notes that Ukraine's willingness to conduct risky espionage operations has led to tensions between Kiev and Washington. According to him, Ukraine's neighboring countries could become “new battlefields” - in particular, Transnistria, where Russian “peacekeeping” forces are present.

Earlier, on June 6, the US special representative for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, said that Operation “Spiderweb” could change the course of the war and become an impetus for achieving peace. A day earlier, he warned that the operation could also lead to an escalation in the war.

Special Operation "Cobweb"

On June 1, the SBU conducted a large-scale operation called "Cobweb", the purpose of which was to destroy Russian strategic aviation aircraft. On June 2, the Security Service of Ukraine confirmed that 41 aircraft were damaged as a result of the simultaneous attack on four military airfields deep in the Russian rear, including A-50, Tu-95, Tu-22M3 and Tu-160.

Ukrainian drones attacked four airfields in Russia: Olenya in the Murmansk region of the Russian Federation, Belaya in the Irkutsk region, Dyagilev in the Ryazan region and Ivanovo in the Ivanovo region. The strike on the Belaya airbase was the first Ukrainian attack on facilities in Siberia since the beginning of the Russian war against Ukraine.

NV intelligence sources told us that the operation was extremely complex from a logistical point of view. First, the SBU transported FPV drones to Russia, and then mobile wooden houses. Later, on the territory of the Russian Federation, drones were hidden under the roofs of houses, which were loaded into trucks. At the right moment, the roofs of the houses were opened remotely and the drones flew to their targets.

The operation had been prepared for a year and a half. Ukraine's counterattack was carried out after a series of massive and brutal Russian strikes against Ukraine, which led to the deaths of civilians, against the background of the US attempt to mediate “peace talks“ between Moscow and Kiev.
