The European Commission must refrain from interfering in the law enforcement of member states, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said in a post on the social network X. His comment was in response to a statement by EC President Ursula von der Leyen, who called on the Hungarian authorities to allow the Pride parade to be held in Budapest this weekend. This was reported by the Hungarian news agency MTI, quoted by BTA.

„Dear Madam President! I call on the European Commission to refrain from interfering in the law enforcement affairs of member states where it has no role,” Orbán wrote.

He added that the Commission should focus its attention on serious challenges facing the European Union.

“I also call on the Commission to focus its efforts on urgent problems where it has a clear role and responsibility and where it has made serious mistakes in recent years - such as the energy crisis and the weakening of European competitiveness,“ Orbán stressed.
