Five people died in a landslide in South Korea caused by heavy rains, reported Agence France-Presse, quoted by BTA.

The landslide occurred in the Sancheon region in the southern part of the country. Two houses were buried under the mud masses. 16 people were rescued.

There is an evacuation order for 34,000 people in the region due to flooding and the risk of landslides.

The western part of the country, in the Seosan region, recorded record rainfall for the last 100 years. There, heavy rains have already caused the death of four people, and 7,000 were evacuated.
