9,000 people gathered in Kiev for a rally against the controversial anti-corruption law signed by Zelensky

Protests were held in several other cities

Over 9,000 people gathered in the center of Kiev for a rally against the law signed by Volodymyr Zelensky, which calls into question the independence of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SPA), reported the publication „Obshchestvennoye. Novosti“, referring to the Kiev police.

The participants say that if their demands are not heard, they will go out to protest every day.

Protests were also held in Vinnytsia, Dnipro (formerly Dnepropetrovsk), Zhytomyr, Kryvyi Rih, Kropyvnytskyi (formerly Kirovograd), Lviv, Nikolaev, Odessa, Poltava, Rivne, Ternopil, Uzhgorod, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi, Chernihiv and Chernivtsi.

On July 22, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law containing provisions on the deprivation of the independence of NABU and SAP. In the evening, about 2 thousand residents of Kiev went out to protest, demanding, among other things, the resignation of the head of Zelensky's office Andriy Yermak. Rallies were also held in Dnipro, Lviv, Odessa, Poltava, Rivne and Ternopil. Nevertheless, Zelensky signed the law, which came into effect on July 23.
