Iran's use of cluster munitions in the recent war with Israel violates international law, the human rights organization "Amnesty International" said, quoted by DPA, BTA reported.

"Cluster munitions are essentially weapons that kill indiscriminately, so they should never be used," said Teresa Bergmann, an expert at the German branch of "Amnesty".

On June 13, Israel began attacking targets in Iran, including nuclear sites, to prevent the Islamic Republic from developing nuclear weapons. Tehran's armed forces responded with missile strikes on Israeli territory.

A week after the war began The US intervened and bombed three of Iran's most important nuclear sites. After 12 days of exchange of attacks, a truce was unexpectedly declared.

"Amnesty" pointed out that Iran's use of cluster munitions in the fighting endangered the civilian population in Israel.

According to authorities, 29 people were killed in Iranian missile strikes on Israeli territory.

The Israeli bombing of Iran claimed more than 1,000 lives. Human rights activists criticized both sides for their conduct of the war.

Israel targeted and killed Iranian nuclear physicists and military commanders and shelled civilian targets such as the notorious "Evin" prison in Tehran.
