France will recognize Palestine as a state at the UN General Assembly in September, President Emmanuel Macron announced today, quoted by AFP, BTA reported.

"Faithful to its historic commitment to a just and lasting peace in the Middle East, I have decided that France will recognize the State of Palestine. I will solemnly announce it at the United Nations General Assembly in September," the head of state wrote on "Ex" and "Instagram".

Currently, 142 countries recognize the existence of a Palestinian state. Bulgaria is among them. The United States and Israel are firmly against this.
