The leader of the Lebanese Shiite group "Hezbollah" Sheikh Naim Qassem said today that any demand by his political force to hand over its weapons is "serving the Israeli project", accusing US special envoy Tom Barak of using "threats and intimidation" to "help Israel", Agence France-Presse reported, quoted by BTA.

"Anyone who today calls for the handover of weapons, whether Lebanese or foreign, serves the Israeli project," Qassem said in a video message on the occasion of the first anniversary of the assassination of Hezbollah"s top military commander Fuad Shukr, who was in charge of the group's military operations, in an Israeli strike in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
