The authorities in Tehran have taken measures in view of the deepening water crisis and extreme heat, DPA reported. A power outage has been imposed in the Iranian capital, with households being left without electricity twice a day for four hours, the Iranian Tasnim news agency reported, BTA reported.

This means that there are periods when, at temperatures of up to 37 degrees Celsius, cooling systems do not work.

The heat wave has hit Iran at a time of water shortage. According to recent statements by local meteorologists, 80 percent of Iran's reservoirs are almost empty.

Authorities in several cities have imposed water outages. In recent days, Tehran has become a place where people go without water for hours, according to the DPA.

Iran is one of the world's most drought-prone countries. In recent years, climate researchers have found a significant decrease in rainfall and an increase in extreme natural phenomena such as prolonged droughts and flash floods.

According to experts, climate change is affecting Iran faster and more significantly than other regions in the world.
