At least 39 people have been killed and almost 500 injured in the last 24 hours due to Israeli actions in the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian enclave's Health Ministry announced.

“In the last 24 hours, 39 bodies of the dead, including one, were pulled from the rubble and 491 wounded were admitted to hospitals in the Gaza Strip“, the text says.

Thus, the total number of victims of the escalation of the conflict in Gaza since October 2023 has increased to 61,369, with over 152,000 people wounded.

The Ministry of Health also reported that 11 deaths from hunger were recorded in the Palestinian enclave over the past 24 hours. As a result, the total number of such cases increased to 212.

The situation in the Middle East deteriorated sharply after armed supporters of the radical Palestinian movement Hamas entered Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, accompanied by the killing of residents of border villages and the taking of hostages. In response, Israel launched an operation in the enclave with the aim of destroying Hamas's military and political structures and freeing all those kidnapped.

In March of this year, the Israeli army resumed military operations in the enclave, launching massive strikes against it and breaking the ceasefire established in January. During several rounds of negotiations brokered by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States, the parties to the conflict failed to determine the terms of a new agreement.
