Ukraine's First Deputy Foreign Minister Serhiy Kyslytsia said in an interview with the American television channel NBC that the United States should impose sanctions on Moscow if the meeting between Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky does not take place. This should happen, according to him, "when the deadline that Trump has set expires", the BBC quoted him as saying.

"I do not see any signs from Putin that he is ready for meaningful negotiations and that he is ready for bilateral or trilateral meetings", Kislytsia said in an interview.

He also repeated the thesis previously expressed by Zelensky that the issue of territories can only be discussed at a meeting of the presidents of Ukraine and Russia. "The starting point for the conversation on the issue of territories is the line of contact," Kyslytsia said.

According to the first deputy head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Zelensky will be guided on this issue by Ukrainian legislation and public opinion, which is "categorically against exchanging territories for peace."
