Finnish President Alexander Stubb said progress was being made on security guarantees for Ukraine, reports "Reuters", reports News.bg.

However, he added that before such measures can be implemented, a peace agreement would be necessary.

„We need to coordinate security measures with the United States, which will essentially provide a safeguard mechanism for this. "We are focusing on these issues with our defense chiefs, who are drawing out specific models of what this type of operation could look like," Stubb said.

We are making progress on this issue and hope to have a solution soon, he said, but cautioned that he was not optimistic about a peace agreement or ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia in the near future.

Stubb was one of several European leaders who visited Washington in August for a joint meeting with Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to discuss the prospects for peace between Russia and Ukraine.
