US President Donald Trump has pledged to continue fighting for a peace agreement between Moscow and Kiev despite growing doubts about whether it is possible in the foreseeable future for his counterparts from Russia and Ukraine, Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky, to meet and negotiate face to face, the agencies reported, referring to his television interview, BTA reported.

"Something will happen, but they (Putin and Zelensky) are not ready for it yet. But something (definitely) will happen. And we intend to make it happen," the American leader told "CBS News".

Yesterday, Trump mentioned that he intends to participate in talks about the war in the coming days, after his meeting with Putin in Alaska did not lead to a breakthrough. According to a White House official, the Republican is expected to speak by phone with Zelensky later today.

Also yesterday, Putin said that he was ready to meet with the Ukrainian leader if he came to Moscow, but added that any such meeting must be carefully prepared and bring real results. The Ukrainian foreign minister rejected the possibility of such talks taking place in the Russian capital.

In the CBS interview, Trump indicated that he was not at all happy about the carnage between Russia and Ukraine, but added that he would continue to fight for a peace agreement.

"I think we will be able to iron out all the differences. "Honestly, I thought it would be easier to get along with the Russian side than with the other countries, but in reality, things with them turned out to be a little more complicated," he said.

Trump is unhappy that he cannot stop the fighting in Ukraine, which began with the Russian invasion in February 2022. He initially predicted that he would be able to end the war immediately after taking office in January.

Regarding yesterday's footage of Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un together at the parade in Beijing, the Republican indicated that he is on "good terms" with each of them.

"I understand why they did it. They hoped that I would see it, and I saw it," Trump said. "My relationship with all of them is very good. And in the next two weeks we will find out how good they are."

Regarding the merits attributed to him for settling various military conflicts around the world, Trump added that he is not fighting for the Nobel Prize, but that he simply wants to end the bloodshed.
