Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said he expects to sign a new gas agreement with Russia by the end of October. “I hope that we will sign a gas agreement by the end of this month. This would significantly strengthen our position and, I would say, guarantee a certain level of security for our country,” Vucic said in an address to the nation.
Vucic discussed the new gas deal with Russian leader Vladimir Putin during his visit to Moscow on May 9th. At the time, the Serbian head of state stated that the supply of the republic with Russian energy resources was of utmost importance to Belgrade and expressed hope that supplies would be maintained “under good conditions“.
Later, Dušan Bajtović, director of “Serbiagaz“, announced that the new gas agreement between Serbia and Russia would last at least three years and its terms would likely be favorable to Belgrade.
