Google to invest 5.5 billion euros in projects in Germany - 1

The American technology company Google plans to invest 5.5 billion euros in projects in Germany over the next 4 years, Der Spiegel magazine reported, citing a statement by Philipp Justus, head of the company's German division.

Specifically, the funds are planned for the construction of a new data center in Dietzenbach, Hesse, and the expansion of an existing data center in Hanau (also in Hesse). Google will also expand its presence in Berlin, Munich and Frankfurt am Main. According to the company, this is the largest investment program in Germany. By the end of 2029, approximately 9,000 jobs are planned to be created annually in Germany.

Google's plans were welcomed in a statement by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in his address. He said it showed that Germany “remains one of the most attractive investment destinations in the world”.
