Americans will forget the taste of Italian pasta because of Trump's tariffs - 1

Italian pasta, popular in the US, could soon become significantly more expensive or its exporters could even stop supplying the American market. As NBC reports, this is due to the customs policy of US President Donald Trump.

According to NBC, the current tariffs on Italian pasta exports, approved by the US administration in September, are 92%, but the US Department of Commerce has previously approved an increase to 107%, starting in 2026. The agency explains its decision by saying that it will level the playing field between Italian and American pasta producers.

Such tariffs will further increase the prices of these popular foods in the US, but could also lead to a complete halt in the supply of Italian pasta to the American market. Citing Coldiretti, the largest Italian farmers' association, the channel reported that such high tariffs could force Italians to “virtually eliminate exports to the US“. Specifically, brands such as Barilla, La Molisana, Garofalo and Rummo could stop deliveries.
