The national airline of Kazakhstan - Air Astana, has signed a memorandum for the delivery of nearly 50 aircraft from the Airbus A320neo family as part of its fleet renewal program. This is the largest order in the airline's history, the carrier's press service reported.

The agreement includes an order for Airbus A320neo and A321neo aircraft, with first deliveries expected to begin in 2031, the airline noted. The majority of the order will be Airbus A321LRs.

Air Astana began operating its first Airbus A320ceo in 2006, using the aircraft on domestic routes and international destinations in Central Asia and the Caucasus.

Air Astana's fleet currently includes 62 aircraft, including 59 of the Airbus A320 family. The aircraft are used by both Air Astana and low-cost carrier FlyArystan.

Earlier in November, during the visit of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the United States, Air Astana and Boeing signed a contract for the supply of 15 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, in addition to the three aircraft of this type previously ordered. The total value of the contract is USD 7 billion.
