On April 8, Fars reported that Iran had stopped ships from passing through the Strait of Hormuz due to a violation of the ceasefire agreement. The US administration later said that the information that Iran was closing the strait was false.

At least seven commercial ships crossed the Strait of Hormuz on the night of April 8-9, most of them heading for the Gulf of Oman. So, in this direction, from 01:00 Moscow time to 12:00 Moscow time, the dry cargo ships Dina Ocean, Sara, Lucia, as well as two tankers Msg and Marivex passed through the strait.

The Tanzanian-flagged bulk carrier Mohammad passed through the strait to the Persian Gulf at 06:00 Moscow time, followed by the Saint Kitts and Nevis-flagged bulk carrier Lucky Gate, which passed through the strait at 11:32 Moscow time.

Also in the port of Khasab, which is located at the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz, about seven dry cargo ships have gathered at the roadstead, which may be waiting there for passage to the Gulf of Oman.

US President Donald Trump announced a two-week mutual ceasefire with Iran on April 7. According to him, the parties have resolved almost all the contentious issues and Washington is considering Tehran's 10-point proposal as a "working basis" for further negotiations. The head of the US administration said that the decision was made on the basis of Iran's readiness to open the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran, in turn, agreed to stop "defensive attacks" if no strikes were carried out against the Islamic Republic. Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, a mediator between the parties, invited them to talks on April 10. They are expected to be live, according to Iranian state television.
