Kazakhstan authorities have extended the ban on wheat imports into the republic by all means of transport for another six months. “A ban has been established on the import of wheat into the Republic of Kazakhstan, including from the EAEU member states by road, water and rail transport,” said the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic.
He notes that the ban does not apply to deliveries by rail to poultry and milling enterprises in Kazakhstan for production and consumption purposes only.
Initially, the temporary ban was valid until April 12, 2024, but from the same date it was extended for another six months.
Earlier at a meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on Foreign Trade Policy of the Republic, during which the idea of extending the ban was discussed, it was emphasized that there are sufficient stocks of food and feed grain on the domestic Kazakh market. According to the commission, the grain arriving in Kazakhstan from Russia leads to a decrease in demand for local wheat in the domestic market and a drop in prices.
