The Minister of Tourism Evtim Miloshev held a working meeting with the Executive Director of the Employment Agency Mr. Smilen Valov, Senior Commissioner Nikolay Nikolov, Director of the Main Directorate “Migration“ in the Ministry of the Interior, experts from the State National Security Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of the Interior and the Employment Agency. The meeting discussed possible solutions to ease the procedure for hiring workers from third countries.

„In the past few days, I held a number of meetings with representatives of the tourism sector and one of the most shared problems was that of the slow and cumbersome procedure for importing labor from third countries”. This was said by the Minister of Tourism Evtim Miloshev during a meeting with the executive director of the Employment Agency, the director of the Main Directorate "Migration". and experts from the State National Security Agency.

During the discussion, it became clear that the largest number of applications for authorization of short-term residence in our country and the right to work are received by citizens from Central Asian countries.

Application review is a complex process that takes a lot of time to research applicants. A factor in the slow processing of applications is also the insufficient administrative capacity available to the structures for processing submitted applications, specified the affected institutions.

Among the possible solutions to overcome some of the difficulties created, the experts from the departments point to the adoption of the draft law on amendments and additions to the Law on Foreigners in the Republic of Bulgaria, which has been submitted to the National Assembly and the short-term visa for a stay of up to 3 months has been given the opportunity to be extended without the worker having to leave the country. Interstate agreements and the regulation of intermediary companies that hire labor are also among the options where the procedure would be eased.
