Elon Musk has postponed his trip to India, scheduled for April 21-22. This was reported by the agency Reuters with reference to sources.
On April 12, Musk confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that he would travel to India to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to newspaper The Economic Times, at a meeting with the head of government Musk intended to discuss accelerating the launch of the global satellite communication system Starlink services in India, investments in the South Asian republic worth about 2 billion USD and the construction of a joint production plant for electric vehicles.
In 2023, Musk sent an investment proposal to the Indian government for his company Tesla to set up production of its cars in the country, which was agreed with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The proposal provided for the construction of a plant to produce 500,000 electric cars per year, localize production and export products to third countries. The minimum price of the produced models will be around 25,000 USD. The carmaker has also expressed its intention to manufacture batteries in India to reduce costs.
