Vanya Grigorova: SOS must support Mayor Terziev - 1

The Sofia Municipal Council must stand behind Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev in his fight against the racketeering and pressure of certain economic circles that are trying to twist the Municipality's hands.

This was stated by independent municipal councilor Vanya Grigorova at a briefing at the Sofia Municipal Council. “We are in an unprecedented crisis. There was a similar one about 15 years ago, but we managed to cope then. Now again the Municipal Council must make every effort to support Mayor Terziev“, said Grigorova.

She recalled that the contracts for waste collection in the districts “Lyulin“ and “Krasno Selo“ have already expired, and by the end of the year another 18 contracts are due to expire. “For the second week now, cleaning in the two districts has been carried out in emergency mode, but the public procurement has not yet been terminated, which is illogical“, she noted.

Grigorova cited a statement by the mayor from August, according to which the procedure for selecting cleaning companies was “the highest competition in history“. However, she pointed out, all submitted offers were above the estimated price of 166 leva per ton, set by the municipal administration. “At a meeting of the Ecology Committee yesterday, it was confirmed that the administration will not sign contracts at a price above 166 leva“, she added.

The municipal councilor stated that she had submitted a proposal to the mayor's report, with which the Municipal Council would assign Terziev to terminate the order and proceed with direct negotiations with the municipal company “Sofekostroy“. “Only in this way can we stop the racketeering of various economic circles“, emphasized Grigorova.

She also proposed that the mayor's administration present a plan-schedule within one month for a smooth transition of all metropolitan areas to service by the municipal company. “This is the only guarantee that there will be no pressure and extortion on the mayor and the citizens“, said Vanya Grigorova.

However, according to her, her proposals were not supported in the three municipal commissions that met earlier in the day. “I hope that at the upcoming session, my colleagues will show reason and support Mayor Terziev in his fight against the mafia“, said Grigorova.
