During the term of this administration, there will not be a single settlement without access to drinking water. This was said in Omurtag by Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Zafirov, who was in the municipal center, together with the Minister of Finance Temenuzhka Petkova and met with the regional governor of Targovishte and mayors of municipalities in the region.

Zafirov pointed out that Omurtag is currently the largest settlement in the country that is on a water regime. The city, along with Breznik, are the last two to suffer these hardships, he said, quoted by BTA.

According to him, during the meeting, hosted by the mayor of Omurtag Municipality, Junayt Yonuzov, the nature of the problem was discussed very carefully and in detail. We are largely confident that the problem will be resolved in the foreseeable future, added Zafirov.

The Deputy Prime Minister recalled that two projects are currently underway in Omurtag to reconstruct and replace the water supply network in the city itself, which will solve part of the problem. "In fact, this is a problem that is everywhere in the country – an outdated water supply network and the drying up of the main water source. However, the big problem continues to be with the water source, so we will also work on this case, namely – bringing water supply from the "Yastrebino" dam, which will solve the problems of the entire Omurtag municipality," said Atanas Zafirov. He specified that 100 liters of water per second are needed – 20 liters for Antonovo and 80 liters for Omurtag. "There is a solution to this problem. We also discussed the methods of financing with the Minister of Finance, the possibilities with the local authorities – they are also aware of how this thing can happen. With a great degree of confidence I want to say that within the mandate of this administration there will not be a single settlement without access to this basic value, which is also enshrined in the Constitution – drinking water," was categorical Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Zafirov.
