After Sofia, a protest against animal cruelty was held in Varna this morning.
Varna residents demanded legal changes to end animal killings like the one with the dog Maya from a few days ago.
Dozens of people gathered at "Independence" Square in the city. They demanded more effective work of the zoopolice within the Ministry of Interior, for effective evidence of animal violence and thus all perpetrators could receive effective sentences in court.
"I am here because I am against animal violence, against violence against people. A person who can do such a thing is a person who is harmful to society. Harmful, as much as a human murderer," a protester commented to BNT.
"Stricter punitive measures would contribute, but it's not just about punishments. In my opinion, the very culture of treatment of animals needs to improve in Bulgaria.
