A truck driver with Serbian citizenship has been detained for causing bodily harm to a policeman from the Svilengrad Regional Office, the press center of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Haskovo reported. On Tuesday, at around 4:00 p.m., near the exit to the village of Kapitan Andreevo, a patrol was on site in connection with the queue that had formed and increased traffic to the "Kapitan Andreevo" GKGPP of heavy goods vehicles.
Uniformed police officers informed a Serbian truck driver, who was trying to overtake the other waiting trucks, that he had to line up to pass, reports BTA correspondent in Haskovo Nikolay Grudev. The driver resisted and showed aggression. He attacked and knocked down a junior inspector from the department. He was immediately detained for up to 24 hours in the local detention center. An expedited investigation has been initiated into the case.
Six police teams are patrolling the area of the truck queue on the "Maritsa" highway in the direction of Turkey, the nearby road junctions and before the border crossings with Turkey "Kapitan Andreevo" and with Greece "Kapitan Petko Voivoda", the police specified.
