“The Left has not exhausted its historical mission, but change is needed. The Left is changing, and we must do the same with it, so that we are adequate to modern times”, said the chairman of the Youth Union in the BSP Gabriel Valkov in the program “Delnici“ on Eurocom.
According to him, it is time for bold steps, not for emotional decisions. “I believe that the BSP will return to parliament through a broader unification, not so much of parties as of people who are ready to stand with their faces and names and together restore trust in the left. We need to turn to the young and the working people.“, believes Valkov.
According to him, the absence of the left will be felt in the next parliament. “Of the 240 deputies, I don't see who will talk about high prices, about the need for tax reform, who will put a ceiling on markups. There is currently a battle of lobbies - how some companies can earn millions and billions, while Bulgarian citizens are wondering how to make ends meet. The small consumer basket has already risen to 60 euros“, pointed out the socialist.
Valkov referred to a report by the CPC, according to which the caretaker government has not taken any measures against the price increase. “Instead of fighting prices, they went to conclude a military agreement in Ukraine. On top of that, they wanted to sell the reactors of the “Belene“ NPP and take away our opportunity to have cheap nuclear energy.“, he also said.
According to Gabriel Valkov, difficult months lie ahead: “The next government must take urgent measures to regulate speculation and fuel prices, as well as to increase people's incomes so that they can catch up with inflation.“.
