The mayor of the capital, Vasil Terziev, has declared war on illegal constructions and dangerous buildings, "Sega" reported.
After the action in the illegal buildings of Rumen Gaitanski in the hunting farm near the "Iskar" dam, many citizens were provoked to report other illegal or dangerous objects. That is why Terziev has issued an order to start inspections of municipal and state-owned properties in all areas of Sofia to identify illegal constructions and dangerous buildings.
District mayors and their administrations will have 3 months to identify illegal constructions and buildings that are at risk of collapse, fire, are unusable, cannot be repaired or are harmful in terms of sanitation and hygiene . The data from the checks will be public.
As a next step, we are planning inspections and mapping of illegal or listed buildings in private properties as well, Terziev promises. "It is not the first time that a metropolitan municipality removes illegal buildings. Our goal this time is to improve the entire system of control, establishment, budgeting and provision of funds for the removal of illegal constructions and the planning of these activities, instead of piecemeal actions," he explains.
