A second flight is expected to leave for the evacuation of our compatriots in Lebanon at 11:17 a.m. from Sofia . The plane will land in Beirut at 13:00.
It is not yet clear when he will fly back to Bulgaria from there.
So far, it is known about 160 Bulgarians who have expressed a desire to evacuate from Lebanon. This was stated yesterday by acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev, after the first flight landed at Sofia Airport with 89 Bulgarian citizens on board.
The Embassy in Beirut is in coordination with the Situation Center at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In connection with the situation that has arisen in Lebanon, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls on Bulgarian citizens to follow with caution the messages published by the Situation Center on the official website of the Ministry.
Yesterday the first flight took off from Bulgaria at 13:00 and landed at 15:03 in Beirut. The plane returned back to Sofia around 19:00.
The news of the evacuation comes amid increased Israeli airstrikes and a ground offensive against Lebanon. Earlier on Monday, Israel attacked Beirut. And the Israeli military announced today the start of a ground operation in southern Lebanon.
