In Karlovo, a 10th grade student at the school "Vasil Levski" has whooping cough and the class was quarantined. "The infected student was briefly hospitalized in the Infectious Diseases Department. The child was fine, but was admitted to the hospital for observation, and was discharged yesterday in good condition. It was immunized for whooping cough“, explained doctor Uchordzhieva.
Most of the sick are of school age. So far, there are few infected babies, and there is only one case with a complication from last week, in which a baby aged one year and 9 months was hospitalized with pneumonia in the "Plovdiv" UMBAL. In the rest, the disease is mild.
In order to avoid a boom in whooping cough patients, many contacts should be avoided during the holidays, Dr. Uchordzhieva also stated.
