Yesterday the official government decided to approve the establishment of a private children's hospital in Sofia. An illogical decision, which, however, does not surprise us. This was stated in a press release from PP-DB.
The Children's Hospital and the health care of our children is a cause of great importance to the entire country and for years it has been delayed and entangled in a mix of populism and attempts to advance private interests. After 10 months at the head of a government in a complex configuration, the Denkov cabinet indicated a solution, but the resistance was enormous. Now everyone understood why.
The health mafia, which for years has had a stranglehold on the entire Bulgarian healthcare system and fought against our decisions to create a national children's hospital, today secured political support for the creation of a hospital from a private investor.
Construction of a private hospital in the form in which the Council of Ministers decided yesterday undermines the cause of a national hospital that would provide uninterrupted access to all those in need. This puts at risk the provision of sufficient numbers and qualifications of personnel in the future state structure.
We will seek accountability for the decision and all its consequences with all the means of the political and institutional system.
It is high time for the official cabinet to give up on the big national issues and get busy with the only task that the constitution assigns to it - to organize fair elections. This authority has no legitimate right to override the important decisions for the future of our children.
PP-DB will submit a report to the prosecutor's office and the National Tax Service for verification of the conditions under which the permit was issued, as well as the analysis of the private hospital's disclosure needs, which was carried out.
We call on the president who appointed the interim government and Prime Minister Glavchev to take action to withdraw the decision.
