In the work of the caretaker government, we observe attempts to restore the positions of GERB and DPS.
This is what he told "Focus" Prof. Milen Ljubenov, Doctor of Political Science and lecturer in Political Science at the University of St. Kliment Ohridski".
In his words, the case with the private hospital has shown that certain lobbyist interests around GERB are behind the decision: "And the reactions we saw since yesterday also led to this change in the decision of the caretaker government. Otherwise, the political crisis continues, because trust in the political process and parties in general in the country continues to be low, and these elections are unlikely to bring any significant change to get out of this political crisis.
Assoc. Lyubenov noted that the distance between GERB and PP-DB is increasing and probably after the elections "We continue the mountain” and "Democratic Bulgaria” will be placed in a completely different political situation, where their weight in terms of determining the future coalition formula will be much less than what they had in the previous parliamentary elections: "If this distance continues to grow, in the end, because we see that sociological surveys also show that three parties are very close, which will compete for who will be second, in the end it is not excluded that PP-DB will also finish fourth. Because at least from what I see as a trend, it would be very difficult for them to exceed 300-320 thousand voters in this election. And this will be a truly fundamental change of the political situation after the elections".
The behavior we are observing and the expectations for the upcoming behavior, the political scientist explained: "GERB are talking to their hard voters. It is very difficult to see any enthusiasm on the part of the voters in view of the series of elections in recent years. Expectations are for a relatively low voter turnout, such as was approaching the last parliamentary elections, maybe even lower. And this will already lead to such strategies on the part of the parties to direct their messages only to their hard cores. Yes, GERB have good structures, they are well positioned in the local government, despite some mishaps in the last local elections. DPS will try to expand its influence in areas outside the country's traditional ones. The active role of Peevski, which is expressed with practices that are related to the expansion of the clientele, controlled vote. So this can also be expected in this election as political behavior on the part of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms. As for the others, "We continue the change" and "Democratic Bulgaria" are trying to stop the trend of a serious outflow of votes, which will be very difficult in view of these compromising materials, which cause a lot of damage to the formations".
