A 21-year-old resident of the Vidin region was arrested for diesel theft fuel from a rest stop near Montana. A car was also seized during the operation. This is the second theft of fuel in the last two days, BNR reported.
While patrolling the tracks that had stopped to rest at the "Suhata Cheshma" turnoff, near the Montana village of Vinishte, a patrol of the Montana Traffic Police noticed men draining fuel from the tank of a Czech tractor-trailer. This happened around 2:30 a.m. on May 8.
The men disobeyed the orders of the police officers and fled into a rugged area by the side of the road, leaving an empty 20-liter tube and a rubber hose near the tow truck. In the forest, immediately next to the turnoff, the uniformed officers found 3 20-liter canisters full of fuel, and 100 meters from the turnoff in the direction of Vidin, they found a "Volkswagen Polo" car. with Vidin registration with two empty tubes next to the trunk.
For assistance on the spot, employees of the RU Montana were called. 8 empty tubes with a capacity of 20 liters and a mobile phone were seized from the trunk of the passenger car.
During subsequent inspections of passing cars on the E-79 road, a Saab passenger car was found. with Sofia registration, carrying a passenger complicit in fuel theft – 21-year-old from Vidin region.
He was taken to the Montana Police Department, where swabs were taken of his hands. With a police warrant, he was detained for a period of up to 24 hours under the Law on the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The light car "Volkswagen Polo" and the objects and belongings found were confiscated. Work on the case continues in the Montana State Administration.
