Training of rescue dogs, used to detect people during destructive earthquakes, begins - 1

Bulgarian rescue dogs will now conduct exercises for actions in the event of destructive earthquakes on a specially built training ground near the Razlog village of Banya. Until now, such a site did not exist, and for the dogs, the first such action had to be in very real conditions during the devastating earthquake in Turkey, Nova TV reported.

The training ground is actually an imitation of a collapsed building with people buried under the ruins. And the dogs find them.

"We managed to create the landfill thanks to the municipalities of Razlog and Bansko. Together, they managed to assist us with means so that we can train our rescue dogs in a more effective and closer to real environment", says Atanas Ukov, PSS Bansko.

Eros is 6 months old. Still a baby, he took his first steps in rescue operations. Apparently, he is still timid, and this is exactly the purpose of the exercises – for the dogs to gain confidence and experience.

"A tiny puppy must be very well socialized - first in the environment itself, not to worry about jumping from the column, beam, etc. To be able to enter the ruins, then to calm down, to see that this environment is not dangerous, and only then to be taught to work in this environment and to be trained to search for people", explains Ukov.

Whenever the dog finds the person, it gets a reward – first he hears the sincere "Bravo!", and then he starts playing with his favorite toy.
