Meteo Balkans: Strong thunderstorms are coming

For the next 7 days, the weather will be mostly partly cloudy and relatively cool until midday. In the afternoon, the atmosphere will be unstable with possible precipitation and thunder, mainly in the mountainous regions of Western and Central Bulgaria, warned Meteo Balkans.

Over the East, the chance of precipitation will decrease, but temperatures will generally be low for mid-May.

After the short break on Monday, we expect a new deterioration of the weather from Tuesday. Around noon, an atmospheric disturbance will cross the country from the southwest.

From the beginning, cumulus clouds will develop over the mountainous regions and in many places, mainly south of Stara Planina, it will rain and thunder. The weather will be more pleasant in the Danube plain.

In the coming days, precipitation will be in more places. A light to moderate easterly wind will blow. Temperatures will drop.

On Wednesday, an increase in cloudiness will begin again from the southwest and light to moderate rain will fall over Southwestern and Southern Bulgaria. A light to moderate easterly wind will blow.

Expected minimums will be between 7-9°C. Maximums will rise and be low for this period in May, with highs of 18-22°C.

In the coming days, we are expecting warming and precipitation in the afternoon hours, mainly over Western Bulgaria, and over the rest of the country, the cloudiness will be mostly medium and high.

A more serious situation is set for the weekend, then there will be conditions for more significant precipitation and strong thunderstorms.

The wind will be light to moderate from the northeast, temperatures will slowly rise and by the end of the week will be between 20-24°C.
