Many beaches in Varna may remain unprotected - 1

And this summer, 28 beaches in the Varna region remain without concessionaires. For the most visited of them, the District Administration will provide lifeguards until the end of the season. A public tender for water rescue activity has already been announced, and the deadline for submitting offers is May 29, BNT reminds.

One of the reasons for the lack of interest in beaches that are leased or leased are the changes in the regulation on water rescue activities. Its implementation multiplies the cost of medical care on the beach. Rescuers are hard to find, concessionaires complain.

"The lack of personnel is an equally serious problem here. We have to look for saviors. We didn't even find rescuers from other countries. On some of the strips, there will be people who are 60-65 years old, even up to 70 years old," said Andrey Vasilev, a representative of the concessionaires of the Varna beaches.

Regional administration in Varna is looking for lifeguards for ten of the most visited unguarded beaches in the region. Each of them will have a lifeguard post with two lifeguards. BGN 430,000 have been provided for the provision of these beaches.

"An inquiry was made to the BCH, what is the provision for a rescue post, respectively the requirements for how many rescuers there are, what their costs include", explained Milen Ivanov, chief expert in the Regional Administration – Varna.

There will be lifeguards and medics on the city beach in Varna.

"Preparation goes with cleaning the sandbar, leveling and separating paid and free areas that people can visit. After May 24, the beach will be partially provided with medical care and water rescue", said Andrey Vassilev.

This summer, umbrellas and sunbeds will cost one lev more than last year.

"This year, we expect the prices of umbrellas and sunbeds to be BGN 6. In places where there are areas made with beds and tents, the prices will be higher," Vasilev pointed out.

No new attractions are planned on city beaches. Concessionaires say they feel disadvantaged because the prices at which they offer their services are not linked to the inflation index, unlike concession fees, which are updated every year.
