The Parliament has gathered a quorum - 1

The National Assembly has gathered a quorum and is starting its extraordinary session, at which the Acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev must hear about the update of pensions.

The MPs voted to broadcast the meeting live on BNT 1 and BNR.

Last week, the Supervisory Board of NOI approved the increase in pensions by 11%. The Supervisory Board is the body that makes the decision by how much to update pensions, the Minister of Labor and Social Policy in the official office, Ivaylo Ivanov, recalled at the time in response to question whether it is proper for the parliament to have an extraordinary session on the matter.

In his words, the decision of the Supervisory Board is final and it is the body that manages the funds of the National Institute of Social Sciences. I don't think it is necessary for people's representatives and politicians in general to influence the decision-making of an independent body at the moment, the minister also commented on BTA.

Yesterday, the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Lazar Lazarov, pointed out to the parliamentary social committee that according to the current legislation, the only body that implements the budget of the State Social Insurance (SSI) is the National Insurance Institute, and this 11 percent modernization is also contained in principle in the provision of the Law on the budget of the DOO for 2024

The amount of the pension depends on a series of payments that are guaranteed by the state, and in this sense there is no hypothesis and there was no hypothesis that the pensions for insurance service and age will be updated with different amounts, Lazarov also noted. There is no action and no legal mechanism by which the funds voted in the DOO Budget Law will be saved, diverted or stolen, he added. The competent authority took its opinion on the proposal of the Minister of Labor and Social Policy that pensions be updated by 11%, added Lazarov.

He specified that his personal opinion is that “the obvious problem is that the schedule of the decision-making processes have diverged from the pre-election schedule now, and that is clearly having an impact”. The Ministry of Labor and Social Policy and the NSI have always strictly applied the regulations in the field of pensions and the principle of a more favorable impact for pensioners has been in effect, he added.
