Young people want to be in a challenging environment, they want, joining NATO, to see modern technologies, to have more opportunities for development. This was said by the Chief of Defense Admiral Emil Eftimov on the first day of the spring session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, which continues from today until May 27 in Sofia.
Admiral Eftimov is the spokesperson of the Defense and Security Committee, reports BTA.
This is what we are working for and I believe that the Bulgarian Army will be a worthy employer, he added. It is very difficult to attract young people to military service, Admiral Eftimov also said.
Under the pretext of conducting military exercises, Russia intervened in the economic zones of the Black Sea, including Bulgaria, the chief of defense pointed out. Russian warships did not violate the territorial waters of our country, but there was interference in the exclusive economic zone, said Admiral Eftimov.
Propaganda with Russian narratives is easily spread in our country, Admiral Eftimov pointed out, and as reasons he pointed to our close language and history. These narratives place blame on others for the war in Ukraine, he explained.
In his words, Russia's war against Ukraine represents provocative activities and a deliberate attempt to establish superiority.
This year, Bulgaria celebrates 20 years of membership in NATO, as well as 75 years since the creation of the Alliance, noted Admiral Eftimov.
