Protesters closed a main road near Galabovo, FOCUS reported.
The demands of the protesters are for a better and safer road. The protest is in connection with promises by API to overhaul 15.7 km of road III-5504 Madrets-Iskritsa-Mednikarovo - p.c. Obruchishte - (Radnevo - Galabovo), which was supposed to start in the first quarter of 2024. Yesterday, the regional governor of Stara Zagora announced that the repair of the Mednikarovo-Obruchishte road will start in 2-3 weeks at the latest. "The construction permit will be issued in a few days," added Radeva.
Today from 6.00 to 8.00 will be blocked:
- from Galabovo to Brickell - the roundabout, south of the intersection with the closure of the road connection, representing the beginning of the road for repair.
- End of the specified section - gas station at the beginning of the village of Madrets
-Internal municipal road between the district "Troyanovo-1" and r-k "Troyanovo- 3"

"I hereby notify you that the IC represented by me "Engagement Forever" organizes protest actions by restricting road traffic for an indefinite period of time. The protest starts on June 4 at 6:00 a.m. The purpose of the protest actions is to start the repair of the republican road ІІІІ-5504/П/Iskritsa Mednikarovo Obruchishte/ПІ-554/which is in a terrible condition, holes have been dug all over the lane, bridge facilities have been compromised. Every day, this road leads to Rudnik Troyanovo 3, to the thermal power plant "Kontur Global Maritsa Iztok 3", the KNAUF plant in the village of Mednikarovo and other private companies. More than 1,000 cars, about 30 buses and thousands of workers and citizens in general travel along the indicated route. The organizers announce that in order not to create unpleasant and fatal situations, they are taking the described actions, supported by the population of the villages along the Sokolitsa river, and add that the protest actions taken have nothing to do with early parliamentary elections and elections for the European Parliament on June 9.
The road was built in 1976 and has not been substantially repaired since then. The third-class road carries heavy heavy traffic, which further destroys the pavement. Over the years, the "Road Infrastructure" Agency maintains the road with ongoing repairs and partial patching of the route, which is a temporary and non-permanent solution, given the workload of the section.
The third-class road is in need of major repair after the preparation of a technical project, adapted to the intensive traffic. Considering the length and condition of the section, it is necessary to plan and provide a significant financial resource for design, and then for the implementation of the construction works, which API currently does not have. In this regard, opportunities are being sought to secure European funding under the "Regional Development" operational program. 2021-2027
Until the main repair is carried out, the only way to maintain the route is by undertaking local repairs to the pavement. The road maintenance company, with which the API has a contract for the maintenance of republican roads in the Stara Zagora region, has been assigned the task of patching the largest deformations and local repairs for a total value of about BGN 136 thousand. The deadline for their completion is mid-July. .
