The construction permit needed to start the major repair of the third-class road Madrets – Galabovo has already been issued, announced Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev and Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Violeta Koritarova, who went to the place today to talk with representatives of the local government and with protesters because of the bad condition of the road section.

The site was built more than 45 years ago and has not been overhauled. After nearly 2 years of delay in issuing the necessary documents, the caretaker government managed to speed up the procedure and the permit is a fact, so that the actual repair works can begin. “It is no accident that we are here. I wanted to see for myself what the problem was and to see that everything was launched that was already possible on paper," said Prime Minister Glavchev.

„After yesterday's meeting of the chairman of the agency “Road Infrastructure” With the protesters, we did everything we could, we also collected the last consent letter that was necessary, we reviewed the documentation and today the construction permit is a fact“, announced Minister Koritarova.

She added that the deadline for implementation is 540 calendar days, and the allocated amount is about BGN 20 million. The section that will be repaired is nearly 16 km long. “The money is secured in the investment program of the Road Infrastructure Agency,” assured regional minister Koritarova, pointing out that the road repair process is irreversible.

The mayors of municipalities in the region and Eng. Tencho Kairyakov, chairman of the Initiative Committee “Obruchishte forever”, which is the organizer of the protest, specially thanked Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev and Minister Koritarova for the quick reaction.

Two layers of new asphalt pavement will be laid along the entire section, and the road structure will be renewed in places. Three major facilities will be renovated – bridge over ravine, bridge over Sokolnitsa river and g. p. overpass in the village of Obruchishte, as well as 32 culverts.

The construction of 1 meter wide benches is planned along the length of the open road and the end of the populated areas, where there are no curbs. Where concrete curbs will be replaced, the affected pavement will be restored. The existing gauge of the roadway will be preserved.
