After two days of blockade on the Ruse-Svilengrad road, the repair brigade arrived at the problematic section. Thus, the protest of the local people in Galabovo was crowned with success. The road blockade was lifted shortly before 4pm on Wednesday.
Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev and Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Violeta Koritarova came to the site, carrying the building permit.
Protesters said they remain on strike alert because this is not the first promise they have received in eight years to repair the section.
Repair works on the 15-kilometer section begin next Tuesday – June 11, they said. They last 540 days and will cost BGN 20 million. The funds are provided by the API investment program.
„After the meeting on Tuesday with the chairman of the Agency „Road Infrastructure” and the protesters, we did everything possible and collected the last consent letter that was necessary, we reviewed the documentation and today the construction permit is a fact, Koritarova pointed out.
„We are not here by chance. I wanted to see for myself what the problem was and to see that everything was launched that was already possible on paper," said Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev.
