The Minister of Defense Atanas Zapryanov attended the signing of the Agreement on the Program for industrial cooperation between the company “Lockheed Martin“ and the “Avionams“ plant.
The agreement was signed on the first day of the 16th edition of the International Exhibition “Hemus 2024” and is related to the maintenance of the new F-16 Block 70 aircraft that our country is acquiring. According to him, “Avionams“ will implement three of a total of six industrial cooperation projects included in the contract for the acquisition of the aircraft.
„The Ministry of Defense will continue to promote the increase of Bulgarian participation in European initiatives in the field of defense,” Deputy Minister of Defense Adelina Nikolova said in her welcome to the participants.
According to tradition, an Industrial Forum was held on the first day, the theme of which this year is the opportunities for the Bulgarian defense industry in view of the increased efforts at the allied level to promote European and transatlantic cooperation in the field of armaments.
„The Ministry of Defense will continue to promote the increase of Bulgarian participation in European initiatives in the field of defense,” Deputy Minister of Defense Adelina Nikolova said in her welcome to the participants. According to her, in the conditions of today's challenges, the modernization and technological renewal of the Bulgarian Army has no alternative.
The Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry, Dr. David Sukalinski, and the Deputy Minister of Innovation and Growth, Prof. Dr. Georgi Angelov, also extended greetings and wishes for fruitful work to the participants, adds the Ministry of Defense.
Acceleration of the modernization of our armed forces is urgently needed, said the Acting Minister of Defense Atanas Zapryanov at the opening of the 16th International Exhibition of Defense Products and Services “Hemus 2024” at the International Fair - Plovdiv. According to him, the Ministry of Defense continues to concentrate its efforts on the realization of the projects for the rearmament of the Bulgarian army. Among those with the highest priority, he indicated the acquisition of a new type of combat aircraft and the acquisition of a multifunctional modular patrol ship.
