I.F. Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs sues former interior minister for BGN 10,000 due to "wrongful damage" - 1

On July 1, the Sofia District Court has scheduled the first hearing in the case of I.F. the Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Dimitar Kangaldzhiev against the former Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (and earlier also Minister of Justice) Ivan Demerdzhiev. The case is for BGN 10,000 for tort under the Law on Obligations and Contracts, reported clubz.bg.

Advocate of i.f. the chief secretary is another former minister - Emanuil Yordanov.

Kangaldzhiev assumed the post on April 10, after the dismissal of the then incumbent Zhivko Kotsev.

It was on the occasion of this appointment that Ivan Demerdzhiev spoke in an interview to bTV on the morning of April 11, implicating the new-old chief secretary in migrant trafficking.

On this occasion, as early as May 3, Kangaldzhiev declared in an interview that he had filed a claim against the former minister. As well as that in case of success of the case, he will donate the money.

So now he is being sued for the said sum because of Demerdzhiev's statement that he was "involved in migrant trafficking". According to the complainant - in view of the interviewee's status as a former Minister of the Interior, he engages public opinion and claims maximum objectivity.

Therefore, the top policeman summarizes that he has suffered non-pecuniary damage, expressed in affecting his honor and good name. His image was damaged, and the speech was copied in many other media, and he was subsequently forced to answer questions about the way he works.

In addition, he became more irritable, his contacts with relatives and friends were disrupted, poor performance of official duties and a negative mood followed…

The plaintiff, who is still in office, concludes that the statement itself constitutes an accusation.
