The election of a new Bulgarian patriarch will cost nearly half a million BGN

The funds come from the state budget

At today's meeting, the government allocated BGN 450,000 for the Bulgarian Orthodox Church - Bulgarian Patriarchate. The funds are to cover expenses for the organization and holding of the IV Patriarchal Electoral Church Council on June 30, 2024 and the solemn enthronement of the new His Holiness Bulgarian Patriarch and Metropolitan of Sofia.

Another BGN 2,124,900 was allocated today.

Part of the funds are intended for repair and construction activities in the temple of “St. Trinity“ in the village of Gabene, church "St. Dimitar“ in Tsarevets village, church "St. Marina“ in the village of Novo Leski and in the monastery "St. John the Forerunner“ in the town of Kardzhali. Furnishing and equipment of the church "St. Ivan Rilski“ in London.

Construction and repair activities will also be carried out in Sinjirli mosque in the town of Omurtag and in the mosque in the town of Chorbadzhiysko. Security measures are also provided for the temples managed by the “Religious Community of Jews in Bulgaria”.
