A bank employee in Plovdiv was arrested for embezzling BGN 144,200, BNT reported. Pre-trial proceedings on the case were initiated on May 30 at the behest of the bank's management, after an audit was carried out there and embezzlement on a particularly large scale was found.
Today, the District Prosecutor's Office in Plovdiv charged E.K. at 52 years old for the fact that in Plovdiv from the beginning of 2020 until 18.04.2024, in his capacity as an official – cashier who embezzled foreign money.
So far, numerous witnesses have been questioned in the case and after prior permission from the District Court in Plovdiv, at the request of the supervising prosecutor, a search and seizure was carried out in the residence of the bank employee. T
a cutting device of the guillotine type was found on the spot, as well as green paper for completing bills with banknotes resembling those of BGN 100, which helped E.K. to make the so-called "doll", i.e. instead of in the bank cash register, the money was placed in cut green papers, and above them a banknote, with which she aimed to disguise the criminal act she had committed.
In relation to the accused E.K. a remand "guarantee“ in the amount of BGN 5,000. Actions are being taken on the investigation. The cashier returned part of the money to the bank - BGN 20,000.
