"Today 25.06.2024. I had the honor in the Japanese Orthodox Cathedral "Holy Resurrection" in Tokyo, to present to His Eminence Archbishop Seraphim, Archbishop of Tokyo and Japan, a gift - an icon of Jesus Christ from the board of the Bulgarian Patriarchal Cathedral "St. Alexander Nevsky"

This is what Prof. Dr. Eng. Boyan Zhekov, permanent secretary of the club “Friends of Japan in Bulgaria”, wrote on his Facebook profile.

"I gratefully accepted to bring to Bulgaria a gift from Archbishop Seraphim for the cathedral "St. Alexander Nevsky" - embroidered icon of the Virgin. The dome of the Orthodox church in Tokyo, after the great earthquake in 1923, was rebuilt according to the model of the dome of the Bulgarian Orthodox church "Alexander Nevsky". Heartfelt thanks to Prof. Stoyan Denchev, member of the board of trustees of the church "St. Alexander Nevsky", H.E. Marieta Arabadzhieva, Ambassador of Bulgaria in Japan, Mr. Petar Nikolaev, Attaché for Culture and Education at the Embassy of Bulgaria in Japan, Ms. Ariana Dolgoff, you lead international relations to the Orthodox Cathedral "Holy Resurrection" in Tokyo", wrote Zhekov.

He works in the field of informatics and computer sciences in the department of “Computer Sciences”, faculty of “Information Sciences” to UniBIT (University of Library Science and Information Technologies).

Master of Engineering in Information Technology from the Technical University – Sofia, where he now teaches at FAIO Faculty of English Engineering Education. He is an honorary lecturer at SU “St. Kliment Ohridski“ and at New Bulgarian University. He specialized in information technology and economics in Great Britain, France, the Netherlands, Korea, Japan and Taiwan.

He has worked as a consultant and expert in e-governance at UNDP (UNDP), BSK, BAIT and on projects of the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Education and Culture and Ministry of Education and Culture.

He is the chairman of JICA Alumni Bulgaria - an organization of graduates of studies in Japan, permanent secretary of the club “Friends of Japan in Bulgaria”.
