Bozhidar Bozhanov: The Prosecutor's Office is turning a blind eye to landmark cases - 1

The Bulgarian Prosecutor's Office is turning a blind eye to landmark cases, but when the European Prosecutor's Office intervenes - there are some actions. This was stated to the Bulgarian National Radio by Bozhidar Bozhanov, former Minister of Electronic Governance, MP from the PP-DB, regarding the reports submitted by the coalition to the European Prosecutor's Office and to the Anti-Corruption Commission for the conflict of interest of the former acting Minister of Energy Vladimir Malinov.

"Coalition "Continuing Change - Democratic Bulgaria" sent a report to the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) in connection with the appointment of Vladimir Malinov, former acting Minister of Energy, as executive director of the state-owned company "Bulgartransgaz" EAD. The signal also focuses on the ongoing investigation by the European Public Prosecutor's Office into the project to expand the Chiren gas storage facility.

"Yes, Bulgaria" also filed a signal with the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) against Malinov's return as executive director of "Bulgartransgaz" EAD. The signal is in connection with a violation of anti-corruption legislation," the PP-DB announced.

"The Chiren gas storage facility is an extremely important infrastructure for Bulgaria and Southeast Europe. There are European funds with which to double its expansion. An investigation by the Anti-Corruption Fund found that all possible mistakes were made in this order. Whether it was deliberate, whether it was corrupt, whether it was due to incompetence - I dare not speculate. But since there are European funds, we are contacting the European Public Prosecutor's Office. ... In this case, there is reason for the European Public Prosecutor's Office to act and we believe that this is the right institution, which is not subject to the political influences in our country, which are guarding in these cases", explained Bozhidar Bozhanov and specified that the signals were released last week and have not yet received a response from the two institutions involved.

In the program "Something More" the former Minister of Electronic Governance also commented on the cyberattack on the information system of the Supreme Administrative Court, pointing out that there are many questions that the Supreme Judicial Council, which is responsible for the judicial system, the National Agency for National Security and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, must answer.

"If the appropriate actions are not taken to remove the virus, it may go away and the hackers may have left a way to connect back to these machines and extract data. There is no loss, i.e. (VAS) say that there are backup copies and they can restore. "There is a question of whether data has been leaked and what this data contains," Bozanov explained.
