Head of State Rumen Radev will host the traditional reception for the heads of diplomatic missions accredited to Bulgaria.
This was announced by "Dondukov" 2.
The event will be held at the National History Museum.
The reception takes place just two days after the previous US ambassador to Bulgaria resigned.
Kenneth Merten has submitted his resignation, which was accepted by US President Donald Trump. “It is common practice when a new administration in the US takes office that all acting ambassadors submit a letter offering their resignation. The President accepted the resignation of Ambassador Kenneth Merten, thanking him for his long and dedicated service to the United States,” the embassy said in a statement.
The reception is expected to be attended by H. Martin McDowell, who has become the acting US ambassador to Bulgaria.
Against this backdrop, media outlets in Skopje reported last night that the government in the Republic of Macedonia is also preparing to replace its representative in Sofia. At this stage, there is no official information about replacing Agneza Rusi Popovska.
